Which AI video APIs have to be polled?
Seven describe polling as the way to learn a job is done. Runway's SDKs poll built in, Google polls the Veo operation, LTX asks for five seconds between polls, and MiniMax, Wan, D-ID and Adobe Firefly poll a status endpoint. From 7 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
| Tool | Hook | What the documentation says |
|---|---|---|
| Adobe Firefly | Webhooks | Async jobs whose status URL is polled until they succeed or fail |
| D-ID | Webhooks | A status polled until the job is done |
| Google Veo | Webhooks | The operation status polled until the video is ready |
| LTX | Webhooks | Async jobs polled for status, at least five seconds apart |
| MiniMax | Webhooks | A task status polled by ID until the video is ready |
| Runway | Webhooks | Built-in task polling in its SDKs |
| Wan (Alibaba Cloud) | Webhooks | A task ID polled for the result, valid for 24 hours |
Inclusion rule. A tool is listed when its own documentation states what the question asks. Order. Tools in alphabetical order.
Polling is simpler to set up than a webhook: no public endpoint, just a loop that asks again after a pause.
It costs more at volume. A batch of long video jobs means many requests that return nothing new, so the interval matters; LTX and MiniMax both suggest one.
Polling on these pages is described, not required by name; a webhook may exist elsewhere in the reference.
1In the documentation's words
Adobe Firefly
repeatedly polls statusUrl to see when Firefly completes the job
Adobe, Firefly API: using the asynchronous API
D-ID
Poll until status is done
D-ID, developer documentation: video translate quickstart
Google Veo
Poll the operation status until the video is ready.
Google, Gemini API documentation: Veo
LTX
We recommend waiting at least 5 seconds between polls.
LTX, API documentation: async jobs
MiniMax
Poll the task status using the task_id
MiniMax, API documentation: video generation guide
Runway
Built-in task polling
Runway, developer documentation: SDKs
Wan (Alibaba Cloud)
Do not create duplicate tasks . Instead, use polling to retrieve the result.

Read against “Which AI video APIs have to be polled?”, this is how SceneMixer describes the matching stage of its own pipeline:
Every character comes out of the script read with a voice described in words — age, weight, pace, where it sits.

Scene order, dialogue and beats follow the script; what the pipeline adds is coverage — which shot sizes, who is in frame, how long each shot holds.
