How AI video tools plug into a pipeline

MCP: letting an agent drive a video tool

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is a way for an AI agent to call a tool's functions directly, so a request in plain language can start a generation. From 5 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.

Fig. 1 Every reading links to the documentation page it quotes.

Runway's Dev MCP connects Cursor, Claude Code and Codex to an account. Krea offers an MCP and a command line for coding agents. MiniMax's documentation has an MCP guide, and Revid and Flixly list MCP beside their APIs.

The list has grown past the model makers. Replicate, HeyGen, Synthesia, D-ID, Descript and Vidu all document MCP servers, and Kling AI publishes an agent skill for the same kind of use.

MCP sits a layer above an API. The agent decides which calls to make; the tool exposes what it allows.

In production that means the agent can also name files, log settings and pass results on.

The pages read say little about safeguards, such as whether an agent can spend credits without a confirmation.

2One tool in the same pipeline

Read against “MCP”, this is how SceneMixer describes the matching stage of its own pipeline:

SceneMixer separates the script language from the production language: the output (episode outlines, storyboards, on-screen text) follows your interface language, and target-region localization adapts character names, casting, and scenery for Western, East Asian, Southeast Asian, or Latin American audiences.

SceneMixer writes dialogue into the script analysis, assigns each line to a shot with a speaker and a short delivery note, and the video model performs it — picture and audio generated together, so the mouth forms that sentence in the language you chose.
