How AI video tools plug into a pipeline

SDK: a maker's own code for its API

An SDK, a software development kit, is a library a maker publishes so its API can be called from a programming language without writing the requests by hand. From 5 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.

Runway publishes Node.js and Python SDKs, the Node one with TypeScript bindings. Luma documents Python and JavaScript SDKs, Higgsfield Python and TypeScript, and Replicate client libraries for Python, Node.js and Go.

An SDK handles the details that every project would otherwise repeat: signing requests, retrying, waiting for a job and parsing the answer.

It also tends to follow an API's changes first, so an old SDK version can miss a new model or setting.

Where a tool's API runs on a platform, the SDK may be the platform's. VEED's APIs are called through fal's client.

Nine tools in the register document an SDK or client on the pages read.

1As the documentation puts it

We provide SDKs as convenient helpers for interacting with our API.

Runway, developer documentation: SDKs

pip install lumaai

Luma, API documentation: Python video generation

Use the Python or TypeScript SDK to submit a request and wait for its result.

Higgsfield, API documentation

Client libraries for using Replicate's API: Python, Node.js, Go, MCP, and more.

Replicate, documentation: client libraries

Add the fal.ai client to your project with npm, yarn, or pnpm.

2One tool in the same pipeline

Read against “SDK”, this is how SceneMixer describes the matching stage of its own pipeline:

That is SceneMixer's core design: characters live in a persistent asset library with locked reference art, and every segment that features a character is generated against those references — same face in episode 1 and episode 50.

The interface labels follow your language, and the storyboard text is shown in the project's display language.
